Our Mission
At The Academy of Professional Development, our goal is to help other healthcare non-profits increase their efficiency, improve client care, and expand their reach. We help frontline staff gain tangible skills to improve the delivery of client care. We also teach management teams how to effectively use their resources and personnel to better meet client needs. By providing this training, our long-term goal is to sustainably grow the capacity of the healthcare sector, improving efficiency, timeliness, and client outcomes.
What We Do
The Academy provides training opportunities and professional development for staff at non-profit organizations across Ontario. By bringing in trainers with expertise relevant to the sector, the Academy can help your workers develop practical skills that improve the delivery and quality of your services.
Service Delivery Options
Scheduled Training Sessions
In-person and virtual training sessions and events are held on a regular basis, posted on our website, and open for registration.
Custom Training Sessions
We work with organizations upon request to develop custom training sessions to meet their unique needs. The Academy will help find a trainer and finalize requirements.
Custom Training Plans
The Academy works with organizations, partnerships and associations to develop and facilitate a multi-session training calendar that aligns with their strategic planning.
Examples of Training Topics
- Clinical and Front-Line Supports – training for both new hires and experienced professionals. Topics include Case Management, Addictions, and Trauma Informed Practice.
- Management and Leadership Training – foundational and practical skills training for emerging, new, and experienced leaders.
- Certificate Programs – professional development and training through the Reconnect Centre for Mindfulness.
- Back-Office Training – training on topics such as Privacy, Occupational Health and Safety, IT, and Human Health Resources.
- Quality Improvement and Program Evaluation – practical training to design and deliver custom reports, use business intelligence tools, and conduct quality improvement and evaluation of services.
