Course Outline
This workshop emphasizes the critical importance of self-care for helping professionals to maintain optimal health, prevent compassion fatigue, and avoid burnout. Participants will learn how to apply simple self-care tools to manage stress effectively and promote personal well-being. The training highlights the biopsychosocial-spiritual model, which emphasizes balance across body, mind, and spirit. Through experiential practices such as Body-Mindfulness Awareness, developing a Self-Care Treatment Plan, and engaging in the Integrative MAGIC Journaling Process, participants will gain practical skills to recognize the signs of stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout, and implement strategies for self-care, integration, restoration, and growth.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify different types of stress physiology and how they affect the body, mind, spirit, the Three Pillars of Health.
- Recognize the signs of compassion fatigue, secondary trauma, and burnout.
- Understand the application of self-care tools to promote integration, restoration, and growth.
Learning Outcomes:
- Participants will be able to identify and manage stress through a biopsychosocial-spiritual framework.
- Participants will recognize the early signs of compassion fatigue and burnout and apply tools to prevent them.
- Participants will create an actionable self-care treatment plan to sustain well-being and long-term effectiveness in their roles.
Trainer Bio
Martez Schembri-Diskey, RMT, CST-D, CSFC, SD, Globally Certified T.R.E. Provider (Tension, Trauma Releasing Exercises). She has worked in healthcare and education for over 32 years as a Registered Massage Therapist, Integrative Craniosacral Therapist, Clinical practitioner, Educator, Professor, Author, Speaker and Retreat Facilitator. She shares her personal and professional knowledge and experience of Integrative biopsychosocial-spiritual treatment approach to treating stress, trauma recovery and self-care. Her extensive studies of trauma and the biopsychosocial-spiritual dimensions of healing, include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Counselling, Spiritual Direction, Spiritual Psychotherapy and Trauma Tension Release Exercises (TRE). to serve her diverse clients experiencing chronic pain, stress, burnout, trauma and PTSD. She facilitates agency trainings, Heal the Healer Retreats for Stress, Compassion Fatigue, Burnout, Post-traumatic stress regulation and recovery that support Nervous System Health and wellness. Martez’s passion is to educate, empower and inspire integrative health care, nervous system health, self-care and healing on all levels.
