Throughout the workshop, we will explore:

Part I: Adaptive Management

  • What is your default approach is to managing others?
  • What factors should (and should not) influence an effective management approach.
  • The difference between a person’s skill versus will on a task.
  • How using an adaptive management tool to determine someone’s performance profile can help determine your most effective management approach.
  • The impact of having a match or mismatch between someone’s performance profile and your management approach.
  • What behaviours support each management approach


Part II: Setting Expectations with your staff

How can you build alignment between what you want people to do and what they actually do?

  • What is an effective performance expectation?
  • How do you set effective expectations for your team members?


Part III: Giving Feedback

  • What is the purpose of giving feedback to others?
  • What’s the most effective way to give feedback?
  • What part does Trust play in a high-performing team?
  • How well do I exhibit trust behaviours personally?
  • How does/can the HSPRS team develop trust as a team?


Trainer Bio

Christine Amy is an independent learning and training consultant with over 30 years of non-profit experience, including 20 years of work with international organizations. She has served in leadership positions in the fields of higher education, humanitarian response, and medical education, as well as within faith- based contexts.


Christine holds a post-graduate degree in International Project Management from Humber College in Toronto, and an MA in Higher Education Administration from the Ohio State University. Ms. She also has a certificate in Adult Learning from George Brown College. She was an adjunct professor at Metropolitan College NY and has been an adjunct professor at Humber College in Toronto in the International Development Program.


Christine’s areas of interest and expertise include leadership and management training, career development, and emergency and humanitarian response. She is a passionate lifelong learner who thrives on creatively supporting others to “always be learning” in order to achieve their career bests.
