Hours of Work: 20 Hours per week

Starting Hourly Rate: $19.50 to $21.07

Shift:  Mon to Fri 10.00am to 2.00pm

 

Summary:

The Meals on Wheels Dispatcher oversees the dispatching and delivery of meals for the Meals on Wheels program from Monday to Friday, including Holidays. 

 

Major Responsibilities:

Primary portfolio and aligned responsibilities supported by the Meals on Wheels Dispatcher include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in coordinating Meals on Wheels deliveries, in collaboration with the coordinator team
  • Ensure that the Meals on Wheels packing room and delivery bags are sanitized, before and after deliveries
  • Ensure timely delivery of meals to clients on scheduled routes
  • Reports any undeliverable meals, client behavioural changes or any other areas of concerns to the coordinator team
  • Assist in providing training, direction and assistance to Meals on Wheels volunteers
  • Provides necessary equipment/items to volunteers, including delivery bags, travel tokens and tablets
  • Attending to client calls pertaining meal deliveries, changes, cancellations or inquiries, in the absence of the coordinator
  • Participates in the day-to-day upkeep of the agency vehicles, including vehicles start-up checks, gas &oil maintenance, cleaning and reporting problems to the coordinator team

 

The successful candidate will possess:

  • High School Diploma or educational equivalent;
  • Valid Ontario License - Level G
  • Experience Driving for 3 years more;
  • Valid Ontario Vehicle Insurance;
  • Clean Drivers Abstract

 

Key skills and abilities we are looking for:

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • Self-directed and independent, but also experienced in working effectively as a member of team, which includes internal and external stakeholders;
  • Experience in working with seniors and diverse ethnic groups;
  • Fluency in a second language is a strong asset.
